About Big Timber Builders

Big Timber Builders is an Oregon-based, (Joseph Koch) owner-operated construction company specializing in residential repairs, remodeling, and insurance restoration work. With over 10 years of hands-on experience, most projects are completed directly by the owner, with trusted subcontractors brought in only when specialized trades are required.

We focus heavily on insurance reconstruction projects, including water damage, fire damage, dry rot, and other covered losses. Our approach is collaborative and practical—we work with insurance adjusters and homeowners to establish a clear, agreed-upon scope of work, then build realistic timelines based on actual construction conditions rather than rushed schedules.

To maintain quality and accountability, we intentionally limit overlap and focus on one project at a time whenever possible. This allows for better communication, cleaner jobsites, and a higher level of attention to detail throughout the build.

What matters most on our jobsites is delivering the level of quality the homeowner is paying for—and then exceeding it. We do not cut corners, even when it costs more time or money. Craftsmanship is a priority, especially in finish work, where fit, detail, and durability matter most.

Modern rebuild costs often exceed estimating software projections. We account for current labor rates, material availability, code requirements, and real-world site conditions to ensure repairs are done correctly and built to last—not patched together to meet outdated pricing assumptions.

Extra care is taken to keep jobsites clean, organized, and respectful of occupied homes. Clients work directly with the person performing the work, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and consistent standards from start to finish.

Born in McMinnville and now based in Newberg, we proudly serve Yamhill County, Washington County, and surrounding cities.
